One of the hardest things about working retail is learning to bite your tongue. A lot of people out there could use a good scolding and maybe even a time-out. Others are just so incredibly sweet that you would like to take them out to coffee and spend a full hour thanking them for restoring your faith in humanity.

Alas, you can't always get what you want. You can't always say what you mean, either, but that's exactly what Avitable and Karen Sugarpants have done. They wrote notes to people in their lives, using the power of anonymity to get some things off of their respective chests.

Karen asked the question, "What do you wish you could say to someone?"

Here it is. Pay attention. I might be talking to you.

• You are an incredible individual, and I really wish you could see that. It pains me that you are so overwhelmed with self-doubt. I pray that you will someday be able to see yourself as the world does — as a caring, honest, responsible, lovable, amazing human being. I am honored to be your friend.
• Nobody likes you because you try to make the world fit into the boxes you've created for it. Destroy the boxes. Let people surprise you with their unpredictability. Enjoy the fact that the world has more to offer you than you could ever imagine.
• Stop clinging to the past. You're even cooler now than you were then. Everyone sees this but you.
• Living your life as a giant party can be super annoying, but living it as a giant pity party is even worse. Please knock it off before I strangle you in your sleep.
• I love you.
